John P. Franklin, Sr. Scholarship Fund
The John P. Franklin, Sr. Achievement Scholarship Fund was established in 2011, by the Diamond Foundation of Chattanooga, to honor his extraordinary life and achievements. Mr. John P. Franklin, Sr., was the first African-American elected official in Chattanooga, post Jim Crow laws in 1971, and was a true leader in the community for over 60 years. His legacy has touched and molded the lives of many as an educator, entrepreneur, philanthropist, elected government official, civic and community leader and devoted family man and Christian.
